After a very long drive, we are back in Paris. Our car was loaded, no space left for the things left behind. The entire loooooooooooong way, nine hours, I slepted. Seriously. Tonight will be a jet lag experience.
Coming into Paris the city was a buzz: People, movement, noise, building after beautiful building... vastly different from our little Provencal village. A smile spread across my soul, one of pure joy, grateful to be able to have a moment of time in both French worlds.
We carried the bags upstairs: Linens, lampshades, pots, pans, pillows, silverware, chairs...
Sacha is living and going to school in Paris (EICAR). He hadn't seen the apartment. His first impression was honest and helpful. He started with, "It has your mark..." then he added that I needed color or a least something white.
I loved he advice at first. But now I see it as work: What I should have done...
It is more than okay as is. But now I see how it could've be better.
As Sacha is taller than me, everyone is taller than me. He found most things in the house to be miniature. I had to remind him that he is a GIANT by French standards. At one point he lifted me up to his height and I saw the apartment from his view point...
Oh la la!
THAT is the photo I want to see...Sacha holding you up to his height!
I'm sure if changes are truly needed, you will handle them with your usual style and grace :) Please share more photos as you are able.

What did you see differently from his height?
Maybe you should have a regulation not to rent out to tall people. (I'm 5'-11".)

I do look forward to seeing the photos of the place -- could you do some overview shots too, in addition to details?

I am homesick for Paris...Thanks for your daily updates on life in France.

I LOVE the mental picture of son lifting mama to share his perspective! I'm sure the apartment is lovely--I think it is very common to all but the professionals to engage in hindsight. Just be happy to have executed your vision!

Isn't family fun to show us different perspectives?
I can't wait to see your touch on the apartment.

I love that he is interested in your goings on in the apartment and cares enough to offer his opinion. I also think it's wonderful he saw your touch in the apartment. I am certain it is beautiful!! You are too close to the source, too much time and work has gone into it. All who enter will be overwhelmed by your good taste and elegant signature.

I second Star's motion: I'd love to see a photo of Sacha holding you up to this height in order to get a different view of the apartment!

Yes, I agree with Rebecca. You could have a height limit for renters.
I once was in a custom home built for a family who were all well over 6'. They had raised all the counters and cabinets. Made me feel like a hobbit. They said that their view in most houses was of dust on top of furniture and cabinets where shorter people didn't see to clean.

that is so funny, seeing a view from someone taller, really neat view and so different for sure, once I stayed in a place in Seaside, Fla., and my friend could barely stand up or move in the shower, we had to move, it was like a doll house really...good for me, but a man was cramped terribly...http://www.seasidefl.com/ a beautiful place and wonderful places to stay here.....I can't wait to see more pictures ~ XO

I just love the picture in my mind of Sacha lifting you up for a taller perspective! So cute. He could not have paid you a better compliment of the apartment "having your touch on it!" That's what we want -- Corey's touch! I know it's lovely and I cannot wait to see many, many photos of this huge project!

I thought that too seeing all the gray, same as Sasha... Colors, not new brights but those faded to a pleasant hue, will sing in the neutral of the rich and varied grays. Whites will elevate and make the taller folks think their heads are in the clouds!

Ah, Corey, the world and all that is in it , is taller than me too. Personally, I like our shorter perspective.

That is so interesting, about height and how it affects perception! I stand five-foot-five and rarely wear a high heel, but once I did put on shoes that had three- or four-inch heels and walked around my house and WOW! what a difference it made to my sense of personal power, to be taller! Everything did indeed look smaller and more manageable. Maybe men come by their personal confidence with material things quite honestly, eh? And imagine looking "down" on half the adult human race, instead of "up."
