My friend Laurie wrote to me about her friend, "I wanted to send you links to a fellow leather artisan that I thought might be interesting for your Art Saves feature. Célia is the artisan I did my apprenticeship with. She is exceptionally talented and her business is growing by leaps and bounds."

Célia wrote about how she decided to create purses:

"I’ve also always loved objects that age well, with a nice patina and which can be transmitted. When I was very young I inherited of a red leather schoolbag from my grandfather which I liked very much because of the emotional charge attached to it. This is how I discovered this incredible material which is one of the few to age in this very particular and beautiful way. After spending a year in an office behind a desk in front of a computer, I decided to leave this all behind and I went to school to learn Leather crafting. I got my degree a year after."

Célia writes on her website: "Bags. Each one I create comes from the person's preferences for the bag they devise. Its identity, its shape, its grip, its handles, its size, its pockets, its preferred storage areas, the personal details.

Made-to-measure is inspired by the memory of other bags, drawing on their most ingenious ideas.

Lastly, we have the lines: as pure as possible, sober, without adornment, just the structure needed to elegantly satisfy the essential."
