Late in the afternoon, I said goodbye to Chelsea to catch the TGV back to Provence. As the train traveled through the countryside with the scenery flashing by accentuated with the setting sun my memories of Chelsea as a baby came to mind. Sweet Chelsea. My first born. My ten-pound baby. My little girl now becoming a mother. Time is going by bringing different scenery and another stage to play upon.
Life is mysteriously wonderful, as someone said regarding being a parent, "Days go by slowly as years go by quickly."
I felt Chelsea's baby move, felt it move, that little life inside becoming.
It is beyond measure this feeling of love for someone who is yet to be but is someone whose cells were in me, and in my parents, and in their parents...
From the train window, I took this photo without realizing there was a dirt road. So much to look forward to in the unknown.
Life may it be graceful as it leads us.
Thank you for these lovely sentiments.

Re "The Unknown Road Ahead," I find it generally works out to hope for the best, while preparing for the worst.

Congratulations to you and the new mother to be! I can picture you now, taking the baby to the brocante and teaching him (or her) the joy of antiques. I'm sure the road ahead will be filled with much joy for you and your family.

Just dropping by after a while away, dear Corey, to find the news of your first grandchild and your always thoughtful thoughts. So deeply happy for you! That thread you describe, I don't know that particular one, but the day our son came home to tell us he was going to ask his love to marry him, and wanted to look at my mother's rings in my jewelry box...it had the same feel. Profound and connecting, to the past and the future. Much love, Lesley
