That first crisp, chilled day telling you that fall is coming. The colors on the Maples (though we don't have many in LA). A true, farmed tomato, sliced with and dressed with olive oil. Beaches. Discovering a brocante item in an illogical, unexpected place. Kindness from somewhere you never expected.

An understanding look between two people. The sound of water over rocks. Smooth, clean sheets. Lighting a candle on a winter dinner table. Putting on a white cotton nightgown. A sleeping baby on my shoulder.

Birth. Life begins.
Full life!
Lovely women in my life.
Five grandchildren!
Loss. The love of my life.
But, I carry on our love.

Cancellations, quiet skies, oversharing, fudge, changing lanes, froth, new love, marmalade, books too good to end, friends who cry, tall shoes, faded pages, songs that aren't gone, home, free coffee, certainty, underwater handstands, pups, eyes that smile, sizzling butter, fast plans, morning words.

Such lovely pictures and prose. Welcome home to your France.
What’s happening with French husband......?
Coming home always means adjustments,

Flowers, birdsong, music, holding my grandson’s hand, family, iced tea with lemon, hugging, vegetable gardening, good food, dinner out with friends and family, family, knitting, mountains, the country, smell of fresh mowed grass, lemons, honeysuckle, lightening bugs, homemade fudge, travel, going to the movies, sunsets, anything with my grandchild, time with children, walking, giving a present, singing, smell if evergreens, peonies, sunflowers, trees, moon, stars, sunshine, blue skies, beautiful yarn, beautiful fabric, perfume, making music with others, a fresh breeze, a good book, bicycle rides, ...

I've recently read St. Paul's 1st letter to the Corinthians, chapter 13, verses 1-13 and am very moved.

Finding a new book in my mailbox! Good reading ahead! My library reopened this week ..... yahooooo!

I love this post....a white bed in the summer-the tired you feel after a day on the beach the sun surf and the sounds adding to this....the shower after the beach laying in my bed with a fan on to dry my skin- the smell of good coffee in the morning....the first sip of that coffee- my little kisskiss's peeps he is a cat that doesn't meow - my cats' paws-the smell of incense in church - rain at night-waves that crash on the shore-high heels on the sidewalk-the sound of a compact closing-serendipity - the smell of my winter perfume on my scarf or seatbelt-my 1:00 coffee by the pool in Spain in February everyday-summer in winter-sitting quietly-the state when you are neither asleep or awake -I call it the twix-thoughts of people that have crossed my path and what purpose they had-so many small moments that make me smile

Ditto all of the responses. For me,the sound of rain on the roof, relishing a good book so much you don't want to finish too quickly, the smell of new mown grass, fireflies, walking barefoot in the ealy morning dew enjoying the sunrise

And gardenias
