I wonder what the provenance of these paintings are? Just thinking about WWII, and the en masse theft that took place then.
These are all beautiful old paintings to be sure, but when paintings are bought and sold (in galleries and places like Sotheby’s etc) their provenance is very important. Have you ever watched the British tv show Fake or a fortune?

I sometimes clean out and organize storage units for people. I did one last year and found $10,000-$15,000 worth of jewelry (most from an auction house) in a box of used, half-open spice jars and kitchen stuff. I had exactly the same thought. Can you imagine sitting at home and clicking "Yep! I'll be having that" on your laptop...dreamy.

Thank you Corey for this post. It made me laugh. Although not my cup of tea your writing was truly a gift this morning

Peacocks? That's what you saw in that picture? :) That is quite a pictorial story there.

i love everything about this... the angel with the fish i wonder who that is and the Peruvian MADONNA AND CHILD - oh boy everything bring on the rabbit holes...

It may be a rabbit hole, but a beautiful and delightful one at that!💕

You have truly been bitten! I think maybe some intervention is needed here!

I do have a weakness for flower pictures, but love that one with the addition of the fruit. It is quite unique.
