What speaks my mother's kitchen to me:
- The sugar bowl and spoon, the exact same one since forever, in the exact same place in the cupboard.
- The small old dust brooms laced on a rod for a kitchen curtain.
- The pull-out cutting board.
- The tin cup sitting on the counter that she drinks from everyday.
- The chocolate chips that are "hidden" in the dish towel drawer,
- and those perfectly pressed dish towels.
- Not a single good cutting knife.
- The kitchen faucet with a mind of its own.
- The junk drawer.
- The red checked cookbook.
- Constant children coming in and out,
- and my mother's baking up a storm.
I am glad to come home to the love that surrounds every inch of my mom's home.
Beautiful Much love to you all
I love to hear that your Mom is doing well
God bless you all
Love Jeanne

Your post is a lovely tribute to your Mom. The coziness of her kitchen, the love that dwells there. So happy you are able to be home for a visit and wrap your arms around her and she hers around you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your family.

And doesn’t “home” have a certain smell to it? You could be across the world and someone gives you a pice of clothing or something with that smell and you’d instantly know!! Enjoy your family. 🤍

Oh, this sounds like heaven. I am so glad you are home in California for Thanksgiving. Please take a picture of the dust brooms as curtains! Corey, please sneak down and eat the heads off all the turkey cookies this year, and don't tell anyone that you did it. Marty will be there in spirit...thinking of you all. xo jackie

I had to smile at the hidden chocolate chips and not a single sharp knife. I know those well. Enjoy and savor every moment, as I know you are doing.
