Thanksgiving 2021
---
Gathering in the kitchen
holding hands in a circle to give grace
We knew Thanksgiving would be different
my brother Marty wasn’t with us.
Each of us took an infamous turkey cookie
held it up like a communion wafer
Or some would say, a drink ready for a toast.
The cookie was part of our family’s tradition that Marty created.
silly, a childhood sneaky gesture, cherished,
and here we were about to continue without him
Reweaving his story into a new tradition-
biting their heads off in memory of him.
I love all the stories you share with us.
God bless every memory of our loved ones in Heaven and treasure every one made with those we love here on Earth
Hugs

I love this new tradition. I was so worried about who would bite the heads off the turkeys. I'm happy that a new tradition emerged. It is just so perfect.

Love the new tradition. I know Marty was right there with each bite. May the tradition continue.

A new tradition bound in love. I thought about you on Thanksgiving and those infamous turkeys missing a bite. I bet Marty was smiling down from heaven.
