Oh this story brings tears to my eyes.
Thanks for sharing this.

Kudos to the little Melly, thinking of others above herself!

Beautiful story. Thank you. You were a sweet girl with a good solution to the problem.

This brought back a buried memory of something similar in my life. I was 10 and my friend's dog chewed up my geography book while we weren't looking. Perhaps I was afraid to tell my mother but instead I scraped $3 of my allowance together and took it to school to pay for the book. After school, the teacher came to my house and gave the money to my mother, saying she was proud of me. But after she left my mother was angry that I hadn't told her and I was punished. Pretty unfair as I look back on it.

Reading this story and the pragmatic solution of a smart young girl, I realize I don’t understand the rules of the religion that has so much sway over so many lives. Good intentions got swept away as they did not conform. I think she was “a chip off the same block” as her father, well done!!!

What a wonderful story. What a dear child.Thank you.

You were a wise one for your age. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for sharing this important memory. A brave girl, indeed! With a big heart. And yes, I agree with the comment above, you were wise beyond your years.

A beautiful story, trying to help your parents at such a very young age. I think of my grandson turning 8 on Thursday & cannot in my wildest dreams imagining him even thinking of that. Children here in Australia have sooo much.

What a lovely story. You were very mature for your age to have thought up the solution to the problem. Thank you for sharing the story with us. Judy

That little girl is one smart cookie! She has great problem solving abilities and so empathetic.

I salute you as well, Melly.

What a sweet story, Melly.
I love that you took steps and were so brave.

What a sweet little girl! Thank you for sharing this lovely story!
