Happy New Year, et Bonne Santé Surtout.

                                      French Antique Statue Arles

On New Year's Day the reflection of the Year past and the New Year at hand come to play on the theater in my mind and heart. Thinking back and
forth at what was and what will be… or could be… or what I hope to
be.

I usually do not make New Year Resolutions unless I
think I can carry them through. I am not that good about carrying
something through… though when I do take something on I do it without
fail… like blogging, or not eating meat, or making my bed each day,
or wearing a seat belt….

         The meeting of two rivers

At this moment while sitting in bed, (laptops are wonderful for that) I am wondering if I can
keep my New Year's resolutions??? Knowing the moment my feet touch the
cold tiles, the day will have officially started and I will have blown two of my possible resolutions. So… I am sitting in bed wondering if I truly want to say these resolutions out loud and heed to them, or just hop out of bed and for the best.

been thinking along these lines too this week. so i thought one of my win/win resolutions would be to read your blog everyday and work on mine. the other would be to do all i can to honor my mom in her new “alone” space. but those ones about exercising more, being more disciplined, cleaning out the attic and basement…those are too “ify” to say outloud – opps…I just did. maybe that’s all i needed! finding your blog has been a very very bright spot in the darkness of 2008. here’s to all things new!!!!

  3. Every year I make the same resolution – to pay attention more often, to be aware of my surroundings and to be grateful for whatever is before me. Every year I hit and miss. This year I am aiming for more hits. Happy New Year!

  4. I always break resolutions…as evidenced by the fact that I keep making the same resolutions!
I wish I could resolve to walk, as in exercise, every day. I shall try!

  5. No, I don’t make resolutions, as I always break them. What I do is pick a word to focus on for the year. For 2009 my word will be “Create”. In past years I have had words like Hope or Grace, but Create just popped into my mind and I knew it was the one for this year.
Happy New Year to you Corey and your family.

  6. I’ll wait to see what new resolutions God brings to me. All challenges and blessings come from him. I will accept his will.

  7. No but I have a word for the year! It’s something a friend of mine encouraged me to do years ago – ask God for a word for the year. I do it each year and it is amazing. This year my word is “move”. Won’t that be interesting?? The beauty of that is that it’s not up to me to do anything – but to watch it unfold. Last year my word was “wisdom”. That’s been something to watch. It just focuses me. Try it!

  8. I’ve never made a resolution. Ever.
    Happy New Year.

  9. Well… I just threw away the leftover cheesecake with blueberries, the lemon pound cake, the pecan pie, the chocolate chip cookies and the homemade marshmallows (and they were cut out with snowman cookie cutters! So hard to put in the trash!!!!) No real hard core resolution but dang my jeans are tight! I look forward to the new year each year and all that it will bring. A whole new year to visit you every morning, Corey. It is always a great way to start my day!!Best wishes for a happy new year to you and your family and friends.

  10. Happy New Year, Corey!
My new Years resolution is on my fridge and simply reads, “Do your best” …and that’s good enough. =)

Instead of making resolutions, I need to spend more time contemplating how I can successfully adapt to my “new” life of widowhood. It isn’t exactly new. But, I haven’t adapted to it, and it has been several years. It is just hard to wrap your mind and heart around it, accept it for what it is and discover where you fit into the scheme of things. I guess that would be a resolution…to accept and adapt.

Mine are wean off using the computer SO much, add more exercise in my day (maybe yoga) and eating healthier and more organic.

In the past I’ve always made resolutions that have not necessarily been accomplished… “Lose Weight” – didn’t work… “Be financially secured” – hum, still working on it… This time what I really want to accomplish is something a little more tangible: I want to start LIVING IN THE MOMENT!!! I see myself sliding through my days without really appreciating what I have every day, and this is time that cannot be captured again!! So, that will be my resolution this year… Oh, and I will lose weight and become more financially secured, also!! Have a wonderful 2009!

  14. I love you my darling
    Happy New Year

You can’t finish unless you start, so I always at least resolve to start something and on occasion I surprise myself and finish it.
I read a quote once that I loved and has stuck with me: “goals are stars to shoot for, not sticks to beat ourselves with.”
I usually resolve to just try and be a little better than I was the day before, and if not, start over again.
God bless in all you do. I look forward to finding out what this new year will bring. Like an unopened package waiting to be unwrapped.

  17. I never make New Years resolutions, that is a sure sign of failure to me. I try to make resolves each morning to live that day to the best of my ability, not looking back with regret at what I cannot change getting stuck in the past or gazing too far into the future so that I miss the present. I try to just live each day as it comes and accept it as the gift it is and live in the hope that sometimes I actually get it right.
Jump out of bed and cease the day Corey!
    Happy New Year!

  18. Julie Ann

Happy New Year Corey, may it be a kind one to you and yours. Good health & god bless, Julie.

  19. Elizabeth Ann

Take a multi-vitamin every day and extra calcium…
Might be able to keep that one!! Wishing you and yours Joy and Peace in the coming year.

  20. I don’t really make resolutions anymore, just try to give a theme to the year. This year, I’m honoring the phrases “all is well” (to keep from worrying about things I cannot change) and “back to basics” (to cut through the stuff I do by rote that does not have meaning, to simplify my surroundings and my day-to-day habits).
Wishing you well as you take on your resolutions, Corey.

We have not chatted for a long time.
We both had some hurdles this year.
I think of you often and pray God’s blessing on you this new year.I’m expecting God to redeem the time for you dear one.
stop over for my inspiring word for 2009.
    best!

Une douce année Corey à toi et tous les tiens, que 2009 fasse place à plein de douceurs !

  24. Mine were simple.
    1. Say “yes” more.
    2. Stay in better contact with people that mean something to me.
    3. Pick up my half finished knitted projects that I still like.

  25. Happy New Year Corey. I do indeed have a resolution and I will spend each day working toward my goal. I am going to apply in 2010 to go back to university to do a degree in occupational therapy but I must first spend 2009 getting a new job within this field. It’s huge but if I do a little each day toward my goal I will get there. Today I sent of 12 applications for jobs within this field. Good luck with your resolutions.

  26. With a friend’s inspiration I’ve decided to have faux (sp?) resolutions. The concept is to not express them in the form of a true resolution that would most likely be broken. It’s more like they are wonderful, helpful and heartfelt aspirations. If that makes any sense. Perhaps it’s a copout, only time will tell……….

  27. Laura Ellen

I will aspire to “ride with the tide and go with the flow”….May it be a peaceful and happy new year for all,

  28. My resolution this year is to simply and resolutely try to do my best with each day that is given to me. For a procrastinator like myself, that is a very big resolution.

  29. I love the one you gifted us with…
    Participate in Your Divine Presence…
    Appreciatively, Judy B

  30. Happy New Year’s! No resolutions, as I break them, but I do have a new health plan that begins now. 🙂

  31. no resolutions, just inspiration to be always better.

  32. Happy New Year Corey…no resolutions from this old chick. Stopped doing that when I turned 30. I always broke them anyway so what was the point. Just added stress in my life…ciao

  33. Ohhh HOW I have missed my daily visits to your wonderful world PRECIOUS cOREY
    My resolution is to
    BEGIN SIGNING AGAIN
I have several others;but to prevent biting off more then I can chew, I shall keep this simple and focused.
Love * Wishes for a wonderful NewYear to you and your beautiful family!!
    xoxo
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  34. Sending New Year wishes to you all.
No, haven’t ‘made’ resolutions but have a rather long list buzzing in my head of things to be accomplished…….hopefully!
2008 was good – hoping 2009 is better for everyone!
    Happy, healthy New Year Corey.

  35. M-Noëlle

Bonne et heureuse année, Corey !!!
Resolutions on New Year’s Day are not me at all.
Que 2009 soit pétillante pour toi et pour TICA !!!

  36. Massilianana

Bonne et Heureuse Année , Corey !
I hardly ever make new year resolutions but this year , I would like to keep some kind of direction : openness , is the word that comes to my mind . Being opened to new thoughts , new ways , new relationships , new tastes , new ideas , new stuff ! New start ? yeah , that must be it ! 😉

  37. I wish you a happy new year!!As Beverly, every year I wish I will walk and may be run as an exercise every day, like Madona and Gwyneth, hu hu!!

  38. I am late in reading your lovely post but not late in making a resolution for the New Year. Mine is to do things that make me happy. No matter what those things may be- quilting, growing a garden, caring for and talking to the hens, making tiny fairies, exercising, eating good food (not necessarily good-for-me-food), helping my children, and whatever else pops into my mind.
I think this may be the easiest resolution to keep.
    Bonne Année, Corey.

  39. Happy New Year, Corey! I’m still thinking resolutions and so far, I haven’t made any conclusions yet beyond NOT giving up chocolate. I have several goals, though, including a book or two. That’s about it.

  40. hello dearest corey,
wishing you and your family a blessed and most healthy 2009!!!

  41. No real resolutions, but remember that girl who came to France to meet that guy? Did anything ever happen with that? I haven’t been keeping up!
