I planned to show you my friend's kitchen today, and to ask your advice about what to do… though the traffic jam, and my camera battery running out of juice made today's post take a detour. Nevertheless, I will need your help.

Thank you for the great advice yesterday… I am now back at the drawing board!

Since many of you ask me, "Where to stay in Provence?" I thought I would give you a little tour of France, of the French provencal country side that is.

A taste of France, a little tour of beautiful places to stay, share a meal and enjoy the style de vie in France… a style of luxury in the country that is.

Holiday Homes in the Provence. Let me forewarn you, each one of these homes are a retreat haven. It will be hard to pick which one to stay in …so you might want to stay in all of them. One month in each. Then we would be neighbors, and I could come visit you…often.

I could never afford one night in any of these homes… but I can dream.

Most interiors in Provence have orange colored, tile floors called, "Tomette" , large wooden beams, high ceilings, a wine cellar, and chandeliers.

Note the ceiling, it probably use to be a wine cellar. When are you coming to Provence? If you rent this house, I'll come visit, and bring the wine.

I went through this website: THE KITCHEN DESIGNER expecting to see s
ome kitchen designs, which I was happily satisfied, but I was fed full with a lovely tour of beautiful homes as well. I didn't know of this site, and had to share it with you.

My mouth watered over most of it, so I advise to grab a napkin before venturing inside!
As well this site: French Country Kitchen Designs is a treasure chest full of ideas, photos, style and pure French country look. It made me want to invest in copper.

Lavender blooms profusely is July. Red Poppies in May, Sunflowers in June, it is colorful to say the least. It is breathtaking to say the most.

Gravel covers most terraces, as water is a luxury not to be wasted in Provence. Most plants in the gardens in the south of France need little water to survive.

Bonnieux, Provence a hilltop village with a carpet of Cherry trees in bloom.

Le Saffranier said, "…There is no more charming village in the Luberon than Bonnieux, home to
some 1,500 permanent residents. The otherwise quiet village comes to
life every Friday morning when vendors from miles around set up their
stalls on a square flanked by restaurants and cafes."

  1. No kidding. Seriously. How would you go about choosing just one? It’s really wrong of you to tempt us like this, Corey. They’re all just beautiful. You live in a beautiful place.

  2. Patricia

I should have found a French man from the south of France not the north! Beautiful.

  3. Simply beautiful…..I love to come read your posts and DREAM!!!!!

  4. Beautiful!! I especially love the gardens and terraces. I sincerely jope to visit you one day!
    XOXOXOXOXO ~ S

  5. Okay, I have died and gone to heaven.
    Jealousy has killed me.
How can you stand to live amongst such wonderful places and not become green?
    🙂
Thanks for showing the links to these places.

  6. OK I am going to have to spend some serious time with this post. I went to a wedding in Sete a couple of years ago and spent a couple weeks roaming Provence and will definitley have to do it again. This is only one of the reasons I love your blog!

    Hi Corey,
Well, this post sent me dreaming this morning while having my cup of coffee.
Love the bearded iris, love the lavender and love the kitchen with the red tiles and black cabinets. Tres snazzy!

  8. I want to come to provence and stay somewhere close to you so that we could share a cup of coffee or tea, I do not drive and need to be able to get to and fro with ease. I love the hotel that you have in your sidebar and was happy when I thought that I could go there. Now! well what can I say too much choice!!!! please make it simple for me, close to you, no need for a car and peace and tranquility. Am I asking for too much?

  9. What a pleasure to peruse this post….of Provence and the lovely places offered as accommodations. I probably could never afford even one night in any of them either, but I am surely dreaming about it. Lucky you, to actually LIVE there with a view from your windows like that. Thanks for sharing a bit of your world.

  10. Corey, breathtaking!!!!!
I will be dreaming, dreaming, dreaming with a permanent smile on my face.

Seeing these beautiful photos almost brought tears to my eyes. Some of my happiest times have been with my sister and my youngest daughter in this part of Provence. We rent a car and comb the countryside. We have beautiful memories, wonderful stories and a STRONG desire to return each year. That rarely happens, however. And as much as we would love to rent ANY ONE of these gorgeous homes, we always settle on a reasonably-priced B&B or hotel. But after visiting the Velleron market in the early evening, we’re always wishing we had a kitchen to go back to.

  12. SO-SO-SO beautiful! If I ever went there, I would never leave.

  13. Marie-Noëlle

Beautiful places, I LOVE them all so much… but my bank account doesn’t … – Why ???

  14. Kimberly

When I come home from a long day of painting, I will come back to this sight and dream! Blessings, Kimberly

  15. Well Corey,
I have to “disagree” with the other posts so far. I truly think your home is more charming and warm than any of those shown.
Most of them look a little cold to me.

  16. Jeanette M.

What a lovely getaway this post was. It reminds me we all have beauty around us. Think I’ll go sit outside and look at my view (and ignore the sounds of traffic). Happy Weekend Corey.

  17. Ah someday when I win the lottery.
    Love you
    Jeanne
    Beautiful
    Thanks for all you share

  18. Oh Corey, do you know that when I have time, I often go on-line to look at vacation homes in Provence to see what’s available and take a mini vacation in my imagination. Thanks for this post! I will come back and tour all these wonderful Maisons!

  19. Your place is a home that is stylish, comfortable and full of lots of love. The other places are houses; pretty to look at but no heart.
What a beautiful countryside-no wonder your “neighbors” the Jolie-Pitt family bought a place.

  20. christine

    wow !

  21. The view from your world is so amazing. There are gorgeous places around our planet, and the South of France is just so exquisite.
I with Jeanne(above)… now if I could just win the lottery. I’d be there in a heartbeat.
Thank you for making your blog one of the best places to visit each day~
    Vicki

  22. Oh, I’ve had such a brutally busy week – these photos of gorgeous destinations are just what the doctor ordered. D-r-e-a-m-y!
    Thank you =)
    xo Isa

  23. Hi Corey, your photos and links today are just what I needed. I am beginning a new medicine which has many dreaded side-effects, so this post is the perfect diversion and mood enhancer to help improve my day. I can while away the day feasting my eyes on wonderful views of Provence and dreaming of the day when my daughter and I can visit there in person. Thank you for posting everyday, it is always a blessing in my day!

  24. Corey … you are such a tease… now you’ve made me start thinking about a “girlfriends” trop to France… hummmm… I think that might be do-able… what do you think!

  25. My Melange

I’d be a happy traveler if I could stay at any one of these. My my fav place would be chez corey, bien sur 🙂

  26. SweetPeaSurry

Oooh I love that kitchen with the hood that you like. Everything is sooo bloody gorgeous, it nearly hurts! *sighs*
Okay … France is definately back on my places to visit list. I took it off because I SORELY lacked the propensity to speak the language. I believe I still ask where the ‘sun’ is when looking for a restroom!

  27. What a magical escape any of these houses would be!
I cant wait to curl up in bed tonight and dream!
    Gina

  28. Is that a promise, to come visit if I rent one of those places?

  29. Pas à Pas

Malgré que j’habite le Midi, c’est délicieux de flâner dans ces intérieurs charmants.
    “Pas à Pas”

  30. Corey, I would never want to come home.
I’m reading a novel at the moment about a woman, who’s daughter buys her a ‘painting’ holiday in Provence. That was enough of a tease, then you have to post all the wonderful photos of places to stay…
    Good thing I can’t afford them..LOL
    xx

  31. Ok Corey, these are all pretty divine, but truthfully I’d like to stay in a tiny little crumbling 400 year old stone cottage, out in the middle of an ancient gnarled orchard. Is that possible???
    Hugs
    Ulla

  32. What a perfectly wonderful tour. I’ll be back for sure. How beautiful.
    Blessings,
    Spencer

  33. I know where I want my next vacation to be.

  34. That was a sumptuous tour.
When we look at rental homes in Provence, we look at those within our price range (and for two people), so never anything as extensive as these. We have had some charmers ourselves; always fun to look at more … and dream.
    thanks.
