At Home Dance Show

Claire Sparkle twirled into the room in her new pink dress, the fabric catching the light as she performed just for us. In her new home, after dinner, the living room became her stage. We were instructed to sit very still and stay quiet, watching closely, unless she invited us to dance along. Every spin and step felt like a small celebration, filling the house with joy and magic.

Up in the air with bright smiles, and a joyful confidence. Flowing through a collection of music, from classical, salsa rhythms to the tunes of Mamma Mia– she moved as if the world were her oyster, full of delight.
-if only all children’s childhoods were as secure.

Before lessons or mirrors,
before being told how to stand, or how to be- before the world noise tries to disrupts her-
she moves as if belonging were natural.

It is not how you dance, but that you dance.
May we all have the joy to do so.
