Reflection on Winter Day

Sitting at a café, looking out at a winter day as a cold wind rushes by. I reach for the warm cup and hold it close against the chill,

As if it is a small morning prayer.

For a moment, the world slows enough for me to breathe. Everything outside feels loud and unsettled, but here, in this pause, I remind myself that calm is something I can choose.

Paying attention doesn’t mean absorbing every fear that passes by. It means staying awake without hardening, steady enough to act with care instead of urgency. This small act of warmth feels like a way of staying rooted, a way of keeping my center before stepping back into the world at large.
