Gently Onward….

Aubusson collage

In memory of Elaine Hillman.

One of the first persons I ever met through blogging, and invited to my home.

A dear friend who loved France who planned to visit us again…

Cafe Aimee.… my prayers are with you.

I will miss you.

  1. I’m sorry for your loss. In times like this I try to remember what Tasha Tudor said when asked, at age 92, if she feared death. “No, I think it’s the next great adventure.”

    Love Jeanne
There fell a silvery-silken veil of light,
With quietude, and sultriness, and slumber,
Upon the upturned faces of a thousand
Roses that grew in an enchanted garden…

  20. It’s heartbreaking to take leave of friends. I am sharing your sadness Corey and I shall pray for your friend Elaine and her family and beloved ones. I take it as a blessing that I am ‘too old’ (statistics) to find a job to suit me and my interests; it leaves me with the time to do those things I couldn’t do enough before. Thinking of those who have a need to be thought of, sharing a cup of coffee or tea with those who need a listening ear, lend my heart to those in need, comforting sad friends, telling jokes to those who need upliftment.
My days are fuller now than ever – but I always find the time to pray for a dear departed one – and to pray for them. Elaine will look down to her beloved ones, but she wouldn’t want to return. She’s in a better place!
