  1. I love Cherry Blossoms. We had a big tree in my front yard and my favourite time of year was when it blossomed. I would stand underneath it and look at the sky through the branches as the breeze made the petals fall gently down on my face. For a little while I wasn’t a small Irish girl growing up in a busy capital city but a lonely princess waiting on a mountaintop for her prince to rescue her…

  2. That girl and her outfit is so pretty! I wish i could go to china now!

  3. How I remember us and our friends driving down to the Tidal Basin from College Park, Maryland, to see the cherry blossoms at their peak in DC, long ago (could we ever have really been so young?). We were really glad we didn’t postpone the excursion, because the very next day heavy winds blew through the area and knocked most of the petals off the trees.

  4. P.S. Could that be Chelsea, with her newly darkened long hair pinned up, wearing that pink traditional dress and toting a parasol? Even if not, could you buy her a dress like that, because I’m sure she’d look equally stunning in it?

  5. Beautiful photos. Love the last photo with the shadow of the images on the water. So calming.

    Hi Carol,
In Suzhou along the canal a group of photographers were taking photos of women, such as the one above. I happened on the site, and took a few photos myself from the opposite angle.
These photographers have studios along the canals and take these sorts of shots mainly for couples in love.
    Though anyone can hire them.

  13. I love cherry blossoms. Hopefully the three of you get sprinkled with petals today.

    Stunning!

  15. Simply gorgeous! What a treat to happen on this photo shoot. Cherry blossoms do come in pink and white depending on the variety and whether they are fruit trees or ornamental. I would say the pink is ornamental and you found some beautiful ones.

  16. All these travel posts have been astounding. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your adventures/misadventures. Extraordinary. They take my breath away….I have so little commented because I fear becoming repetitious….but it is all so lovely and amazing.

Thanks for answering Carol’s question, C. Puff. I was thinking, “No way, women are just wandering around in pink cheongsams and parasols.”

wow – isn’t it remarkable when you find a place that stirs your soul in a way you didn’t expect. perhaps in a former life you were a chinese princess walking around with your parasol being showered by pink cherry blossom petals…….i like the image!
    Enjoy and continued safe travels

  23. Beautiful, Corey! I especially love the one with caligraphy. I’m looking forward to blossoms! We’re having a rainy late spring here. Crocus in the lower elevations, but nothing here yet! Keep having a great time!
