The Little Dogs & Their Veils

The Bride to be has two little dogs. They moved to France with her, plus a cat.

The little dogs helped us make the wedding dress. Though not by sewing. The licked out feet, entertained us as we sewed and ate the crumbs that fell while we tasted cakes.

I must admit I am slowly overcoming my fear of dogs, these little dogs are cute. I can be in the same room with them…. even carry a conversation with them.

I made them dog hats, or veils. They didn't sit still as these photos suggested. Taking a photo of them was a work out… 

 

I doubt they will wear these to the wedding. They prefer a more natural look.

The cat wasn't nearby, she had other fish to fry.

The dress is completed.

Light pink linen silk, a bohemian feel, the veil was too much so we cut it up and made flowers with it.

    Pale pink linen, a refreshing color in a comfortable and novel fabric. It will be a lovely wedding and a gorgeous dress.
    The dogs should consider the hats, esp. the black and white one, red is his color.

    I think little dogs are scarier than medium sized dogs. I like a nice calm dog that lays at my feet but gets up to go for a walk with me. But big dogs look silly in veils, so little dogs work much better as wedding accessories.

    Oh my gosh I was not expecting this! These two are completely adorable in their hats and veils – the first pic especially is just priceless. And Bentley is surely showing he understands you by his face and big/little ears pricking when you talk?!
    So glad you are managing to use your camera, even if with difficulty – a small step in the right direction. Can’t wait to see wedding photos. What fun the preparations must be. xo

    (Our late beloved cats would NEVER have tolerated being dolled up, so I don’t blame Mimi’s cat for making herself scarce during such frivolity, either!)

    When animals blink at you they are expressing their love. When they put their front feet out and bow their heads down, they are giving you dominance over them… When they look at you and sneeze repeatedly, and maybe a few quick barks, they want you to give them something or they want to play…Are you there yet? I predict you will soon be the proud owner of a dressed up dog!
    That is such a lovely dress. You can just feel the love in that film..

    My, what good helpers you have!
    I remember my Mom trying to sew my wedding veil with the “help” of my Dad’s springer spaniel hunting dog. She thought she was a bridesmaid and had to have at least one paw on the veil at all times. It was beautiful.
    I FINALLY took my wedding dress and veil to the thrift store…10 years after my divorce. What was I waiting for? Bad ju-ju gone from the closet!

    The little peek at the dress was heavenly. The dogs. I tend not to like little “cute” dogs, but Bently kind of stole my heart. He just needed a balloon over his head with his replies to you! I wonder what he was thinking?

    You are getting quite brave, good for you! Such cute little doggies and great video. I agree with an earlier comment, dogs are treated royally in France. I remember having dinner at an elegant Paris restaurant. After a bit, a couple was seated at the empty table next to ours. With them came a huge Rottweiler! What a sweetie, he just curled up between our tables. Of course, missing my dogs, it meant he and I had a lovely chat. Can’t wait to see the finished dress!

    Coco, how cute is this ? My little Grace must have watched your video clip a zillion times this afternoon. How she loved the little doggies in their lace bonnets !
    I told her the voice she could hear was mummys pretty friend that sent her spotty bowls. For me I cannot wait to see the divine Wedding frock. Mine was a v simple but beautiful silk column dress. I am too little for much detail regrettably and how I envied the brides festooned in detail when I was trying on. Actually if it were now and time was available I would go for a far more vintage look and add wonderful lace detail regardless. Bring on the bride I say. My love always, Jxx

    Little dogs like this can be quite yappy and snappy…but not always!! They look adorable! I’ve had 2 Scottish terriers over the years, and a Beagle…would have another Scotty in a heartbeat…they make wonderful pets and good watch dogs too!

    Bentley seemed to be unphased by your instructions or your less than enthusiastic vibes over his person….he had those eyes that just say….I am here give me a hug…just like my pooch Humphrey does for me….hugging dogs is very good for you I promise!
