Cassis by Night

cassis by night

The Rugby World Cup is hosted in France.

Rugby fans have descended from all over the world.

I am amazed at how many fans are in Cassis and how many of the bars/cafes and some restaurants have enormous screen TVs set up for the fans to sit, drink, and cheer on their team.

It is like one big happy stadium. And I feel like I am in an English-speaking country due to how much English my ears detect.

If the Rugby World Cup attracts this many people to come to France to watch the games on TV screens, how many more people will come to France to watch live the Olympics, which will be hosted in France in 2024?

Well you are going to be busy with all the internationals coming, but I would think that the rugby watchers are having a holiday at the same time, while sitting in Cassis, before trotting off to the different parts of France for the matches…whereas I would have thought that the Olympics watchers would need to go to the venues to see the action, not quite the same as watching a rugby game. New Zealand’s team, the All Blacks, played France on the first day and we lost, unheard of and the whole of our country collapsed! So, you will likely have a lot of Kiwi’s there crying into their beer or wine just now, drowning their sorrows in delicious food! Cheers Jennie, NZ

We were in Paris the last time France hosted the rugby world cup staying in a hotel off the rue de Abesses. Fast asleep, we were awoken by a low rumble as the very stones were vibrating followed by a loud roar. I rolled over to my husband and said, “I think France just won!”

  3. One of my very best friends is staying in Cassis for the RWC, and I gave him your list of favourite place boulangeries / café etc.

  4. Nice photo.
