On a beautiful January morning,
I walked along the endless beach.
The low tide rolled back beyond view,
and the salty sea scent filled the air.
The malleable sand glistened with the winter sunlight,
and as I walked,
The impermanence of everything around me moved me.
The waves would continue to ebb and flow,
the wind would shape and reshape the sand,
and the sunlight would fade into darkness.
I felt as wind, sand, and water surge and recede,
Stillness in the swirl of the sea
holding me in balance
A calmness spoke in that.
Fleeting nature, within heartbeats and the seagull's song.
