A Provençal Walkabout

The day before our friends daughter’s wedding, we gathered—this group of old friends who feel like family, and have for so many years.

We went for a walk in the countryside. Olive trees lined the path, with vineyards nearby, lavender in bloom, and even capers growing wild. The sun was warm, but every so often a breeze passed through, carrying the scent of herbs and summer.

We walked and talked, in that easy way that happens with people who’ve known each other a long time.

It was a simple afternoon, full of quiet beauty and shared history—a gentle pause before the joy of the wedding day.

I love this pause before the wedding. The first picture felt like I was a child walking through my grandfather’s orchard full of apples ready to be plucked.
