As We Turn the Page

As this year marks off its last page, and the next one waits, we pause— wait, and wonder.

May this be the year we soften where we hardened.
where we listen where we once rushed.
where no kindness is wasted.

Let the promise of this turning be simple:
that we will do better.
and love—again and again—over fear.

May the coming year find us more awake,
more willing to protect what is fragile,
and more certain that light,
even when faint,
always knows the way forward.

I know I already left a message, but that word “kindness” is what I seek. Thanks for your kindness.
