At it Again, Digging for Dreams, I Mean Old Stuff

One of the greatest joys of these French la Vie journeys is welcoming people back again and again. Over the last several groups, many guests have returned multiple times—some as many as nine times. This week alone, three guests are joining me for their third journey.

To me, that is a wonderful testament to what we share together. People may come looking for beautiful antiques and hidden treasures, but what often emerges is something even more meaningful: friendship.

Over time, relationships are built. We spend our days exploring antiques, visiting homes and collections of people I have come to know over the years, and sharing experiences that go far beyond what anyone could plan. We talk about our lives, exchange stories, enjoy meals together, and simply delight in one another’s company.

There is something special about the drives through the, Provencal countryside the conversations along the way, and the friendships that grow naturally from spending time together. I feel incredibly fortunate to share these moments and to see so many people return, not only for the discoveries, but for the connections we make together.

I recall from childhood a roadside sign along the east side of US 101 in Santa Rosa, California, that read: “We buy Junk and sell Antiques”!

The pattern on the post in the 4th photo would make a great design for those of us who love cable knitting! (It would have to be graphed, though).
