The Abundant Table

Long tables stretch
plates touching, stories crossing hands.

Fences fade returning to earth, for foot steps to meet.
paths opening where barriers once stood.

A place where every chair holds place
where hunger meets its answer in shared bread,
where voices gather and rise together.

As Callie Colles wrote, “…bigger tables and smaller fences…”

until the whole world has a place.

Beautifully said! I love that first picture of the table setting – make me want to be there!

Love the first picture. Kind of rustic elegance with potted plants, twigs, burlap table runner. Interesting. We watch a lot of French film and the scenes when someone is cooking and then sharing with family and friends are admirable French cultural values.

    1. Thank you I set the table for some friends who had a wedding. I posted about it last summer.

  3. Beautiful, my friend, beautiful…
    Love to you.
