Sacha’s Blackberry Pie

blackberries

Gathering fresh blackberries was at the top of his list the morning Sacha made a pie.

He knew the patch from last year, and it did not disappoint, loaded with juicy wonders.

Filling his container took mere minutes to collect.

Have you ever picked blackberries?

Growing up in California, we had patches along the canal banks in the fields behind our home.

Four cups make a pie.

My mom taught him well. Sacha can make her Blackberry pie filling and crust from scratch.

  4. Looks like one I’d try, oven temp and time? Thx, my Moms best were on a campstove with some sort of hood contraption. I’ve never made one.

  5. My mother used to be a blackberry picker extraordinaire–specializing in the small blackberries of recently logged areas in the Pacific Northwest. For my wedding, she made 36 blackberry pies for the guests rather than the traditional wedding cake.

  6. Yummm! I did put blackberries in my freezer for pie during the winter. Then I set some out just to nibble and they soon disappeared. Soooooo good! How special that Sacha can bake his grandmother’s pie.
