"A spoonful, how delightful. When I was growing up and into life with children we had a favorite place to eat Mexican food. I loved it, my children loved it and we discovered at Christmas time a few years ago that it had an unannounced closing. We were devastated! I would so love one more spoonful of their delicious salsa! Might be an odd choice, but it was such a huge part of our eating out heritage."

    The woman with the sheep for sure. She is natural, the sheep are natural and I love the tree especially because it too was probably painted just as it was-natural and far from perfect.

    Love the 1st one of the pretty woman with bare shoulders. I relate more to the little girl holding the dog. I think you brought home the 4th one of the woman with downcast eyes. It has a mysterious quality to it.

    I think you and I, would choose the same painting and that is the fourth one. And I think we would choose it for the same reasons. A beautiful mysterious being, in peaceful meditation. Goddess, Mystic, Priestess? What is being held so close to her chest, something sacred perhaps?
    Everything about the piece resonates with me, the age, wear, muted colors, the mystery.

    Love each of them for the unique presentation and artis interpretation, but the 4th one is what has drawn me in. The lady has such a calm and peaceful countenance. I look at her and feel a peaceful presence.

    I adore each one, but the 4th really resonates with me. I think this is the one you brought home. The image of her in the fine silk dress beneath her cloak, weathered by time like the painting itself, is captivating. Her eyes, lowered in reverence as she prays. And her hands, as expressive as her gaze, adds another layer of beauty. I can’t help but feel she carries a deep wellspring of gratitude within her.

    #4 She’s lovely. There is a spiritual aura about her…her hands on her heart and her closed eyes, deep in the present moment, gentle and calm.The patina enhances the mood of the painting. So beautiful.

    All of the paintings are beautiful. The one that speaks to me is the lady with a basket and a flock of sheep gathered round her. I can relate to that, as I am always watching over and tending to my ‘flock’.

    The fourth one of the woman in prayer draws me in. I think that is the one you brought home. I also love the woman with the flock of sheep. You can tell that the sheep ‘know her name.’

    I think you brought home the 4th painting as well because it made you think of your sweet grandchildren. The painting I most connected with is the older woman in the blue and gold oval frame. As an older woman myself, I sometimes feel unseen and ignored. It touches me that someone thought enough of that older woman to paint her even tho she’s not young and beautiful and maybe not even very happy anymore!

    Like so many other readers, I would choose the 4th portrait. The tones convey a darkness, a storm. Her golden countenance speaks to me of the moments I have been dearly yearning for. Moments of quiet and clarity in the noisy world of today. Divine silence. Perfect peace.

    The lady with the sheep – is a depiction of where I long to be someday . On a piece of land surrounded by my rescue west highland terriers , in the French countryside . Attending to my simple life surrounded by vast wilderness that is hugged by mountains. Lately I have been teaching myself to crochet for my Blythe dolls . So there I stand with my crochet and my dogs playfully surrounding me 🙂

    The portrait of Jesus touched me. The contrast of light and dark is a metaphor of His life. The circular patterns remind me of His eternal presence.
